THE GOLD RING DUO is a professional instrumental act specialising in live traditional Irish and Celtic music for weddings, corporate events and other private and public functions.
We are also available for concerts, recitals, folk clubs and festivals. Our main repertoire contains a large number of Irish tunes, but also many Welsh and Scottish and other pieces, the proportions of which can be adjusted to suit our clients' wishes. We are available for bookings throughout the UK.
THE GOLD RING DUO consists of Ben Walker (flute, uilleann pipes, whistle, low D whistle) and Chris Knowles (Fiddle, Irish bouzouki).
The duo play a wide range of tunes, from beautiful atmospheric airs to up-tempo jigs & reels.
Chris and Ben are two professional multi-instrumentalists. They have played together for over 26 years, as well as both playing solo and with other music combos.
As a duo and as members of a couple of bands, they have performed together at numerous festivals, concerts, folk clubs etc. and also for a very large number of private events
such as weddings and corporate events, and they have recorded 7 albums together, including 5 albums as a duo.
(Please note: in a change to our instrumentation in the past when Chris featured the Celtic harp,
in live performances with this duo Chris now normally plays only fiddle and Irish bouzouki.
The Celtic harp is still sometimes available as an alternative option, but not in addition to the fiddle & bouzouki).
Weddings
We can play music for your wedding ceremony, reception, or both.
The various duo instrument
combinations are a great choice for lively jigs and reels during the reception drinks.
The music varies from beautiful magical evocative airs, to lively jigs and fast exciting reels.
